Maingi honed his skills as a street baller in Mombasa with Chaani Youth Academy.Starting at the U7 level then joined Aspire Academy.He impressed national team coach,George Kamau, to whom he was introduced by his principal at St Philip’s Wera School,Kisumu.
Good judgment on tackle, very comfortable in one on one situations defensively;good aerial abilities, good build up analyst, keen eye for interception; works extremely well with all ball (long,short) situations, very calm and good on the outlet counter attack ball.
